Waldemarsudde was originally the home of Prince Eugen (1865-1947), and is now one of Sweden’s most highly visited art museums. Prince Eugen was one of the most accomplished landscape painters of his time and an important collector, mainly of Swedish art. The collections comprise around 7,000 works, and include paintings, sculpture and artefacts. A selection of Prince Eugen’s own work is displayed throughout the year, while the museum also displays works from the collections and temporary exhibitions. A beautiful park, glorious with its flowers and sculptures, surrounds the museum.
You can see and learn about biodynamic cultivation of vegetables, flowers and fruit at Rosendals Trädgård, and you can buy plants and accessories, visit the exhibitions, take a course, or just enjoy yourself on a rug under an apple tree. Our café serves lunch, sandwiches and cakes, made using ecological ingredients of the season. We bake the bread and cakes on sale in the café and in the shop by hand in wood-fired stone ovens. Stiftelsen Rosendals Trädgård is a non-profit organisation; all profits are reinvested into the operations.
